Yes. Burger King. Selling tacos. We're confused, too.

The home of the Whopper has decided to think outside the bun. Fast-food chain Burger King just added a $1 taco to its menus nationwide.

The new menu item is pretty much your basic (Americanized) taco—crispy shell, seasoned beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and savory taco sauce.

Although we definitely think it's weird for a burger chain to venture into the Mexican food world, it's not the worst thing ever. For starters, the taco is $1 all day every day. That's a steal. That's four quarters. In today's economy, that's like a penny—you won't even miss it.

Plus, for those nights when you just don't know what you want to eat, well, BK is giving you a strong case to hit up the drive-through and grab a full spread of burger, nuggets, fries, and a taco. You know, just to cover all the bases.

"We've seen success with tacos in our west coast restaurants and knew it was time to bring this west coast crowd-pleaser nationwide," said Chris Finazzo, president of Burger King Corporation in North America, in a press release. "The Crispy Taco adds variety to our snacking items and truly hits the spot."

BK actually sold tacos before in 2010, and they were a hit. Business Insider found a Facebook group called "Burger King - Bring back the Crispy Tacos" that has almost 700 members.

That group is getting its wish, and as of right now, there's no end date for the BK Crispy Taco. There's also no confirmation that it's a permanent fixture on the menu, though, so don't stall on getting your Taco Tuesday on.
